The following admission requirements apply to students who have not completed any college-level course work after completing secondary school.
Students applying as first-time freshmen must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.3 and will have successfully completed 13 core academic requirements:
4 years/units of English
3 years/units of Math
3 years/units of Natural Sciences
3 years/units of Social Sciences
Students graduating from an Ohio public or charter high school in 2014 and beyond must complete the Ohio Core Curriculum Requirements, which include:
4 years/units of English
4 years/units of Math, including Algebra II or an equivalent course
3 years/units of Science
3 years/units of Social Studies
1 year/unit of Fine Arts, to include courses taken in grades 7-12
Proof of English proficiency.
Students who have attended a US high school or secondary school in another country that follows the US high school curriculum must submit ACT or SAT scores. These students must submit a minimum total ACT score of 16, or a minimum old total SAT score of 770 (before March 1, 2016), or a minimum new total SAT score of 880 (after March 1, 2016). Students who are applying to the Honors College and student athletes must comply with NCAA eligibility requirements. The Honors College has higher requirements, please see the Honors College website for more information.
Official transcripts of academic work and completion certificates from each secondary school and university attended. PHOTOCOPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. If transcripts are not in English, please include an official/certified English translation of the original documents.
TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based): 78 and at least 17 in each section
TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based): 550
IELTS: 6.0 and at least 5.0 in each section

Economics is a social science that seeks to model the behavior of economic agents (consumers, workers, firms, and government agencies) in an effort to explain the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services in a world where scarcity exists. Economists develop theoretical models to explain and predict economic outcomes and test these predictions using advanced statistical techniques. Topics include the choice of production technologies, wage inequality, schooling decisions, inflation, unemployment, and many other economic phenomena that affect the lives of everyone in our society. Students go on to Masters and PhD programs in Economics, Accounting, Finance and other related fields, pursue a law degree, or work in a variety of different jobs. Career paths for students with a degree in Economics include, but are not limited to: Actuary, Budget analyst, Credit analyst, Economic analyst, Financial advisor, Financial analyst, Healthcare analytics specialist, Market analyst, Mortgage loan associate, Pricing analyst, Real estate analyst, Statistician.
