Statement of Intent: 1-2 pages which highlight relevant aspects of your background and training, describe your general research interests and how they correspond with your supervisor's.
Writing sample: this can be your term paper, honours thesis or a published paper that best reflects your abilities. No specific length.

2 assessment reports and/or letters of reference: the online application will prompt you to provide two names (or more) and email addresses. Automatic assessment requests will be sent out once you submit your application and your references will have an option to upload a reference letter or complete the online questionnaire. Please ask your references to submit their assessment by the end of January.
Transcripts: electronic copies of your transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (including transfer credits) are sufficient until an offer of admission is made – then you will be required to submit original hard copies directly to GARO office.
For admission to the MA program - minimum overall average of B+ (6.0 GPA) for the last two years of university work.
We require a minimum score of 90 from the internet-based TOEFL (IBT). You must also score at least 20 points each in the listening, speaking, reading and writing sections. We require a minimum score of 575 on the paper-based TOEFL. We require minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS. No individual component can have a score lower than 6.0. We will only accept results from the Academic IELTS.

This program centres on a research-based thesis. Your coursework will connect across the subfields of anthropology. Our department works within four innovative and integrative themes: Culture, Health and Inequality, Evolution and Ecology, Space, Place, Knowledge and Power<br>Visual Anthropology and Materiality<br>You'll take courses in relevant methods and your research area. Your independent thesis research project will incorporate fieldwork and/or lab work, which will allow you to make original contributions to the discipline and our communities of practice, while growing your expertise through experiential learning.<br>Our department structures students' learning experiences to reflect the content, values and skills of our dynamic contemporary discipline.<br>Students in this program will:<br>encounter anthropological ways of knowing from a multiplicity of sub disciplinary perspectives<br>explore the current state of knowledge within the chosen topic/area, gain in-depth knowledge of particular peoples, processes, places and histories, contribute original research to a defined problem within the discipline<br>conduct fieldwork and/or work in the lab to generate valued knowledge informed by experience<br>articulate a research proposal and communicate research results, learn project management skills including time management, data management and quality control
