Channel your interest in history and social studies into a teaching career with Southern New Hampshire University's Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies and Education. This unique B.A. program will lay the foundation for you to earn New Hampshire teaching certification for teaching social studies in grades 5 through 12. Here, you won't have to wait until senior year to get into a classroom. Our students begin working-not just observing-in real classrooms first semester freshman year and the program culminates in a year-long student teaching experience. You will graduate with a deep understanding of history, economics, geography, and civics while meeting all New Hampshire state requirements for teacher certification (this certification may be reciprocal in some states, but many will have further requirements to fulfill). Students completing this program may be eligible for a minor in History. By choosing history courses for General Education electives/requirements, students may also choose to earn a second major in History.
