SAT and/or ACT scores (or English Proficiency if educated outside of the US)
Unofficial transcripts can be accepted for admissions purposes, however official transcripts must be received prior to a student's registration for classes.Transcripts must be submitted both in the native language and in an official English language translation.Transcripts should list all courses taken in high school and should include grades/scores for each subject. Students who have taken Advanced Placement Examinations (AP) of the College Board or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program will be accepted with above average scores (AP grades higher than 3 and IB scores higher than 4) and should have the results forwarded to the Office of International Admissions. These results will be evaluated not only for admission but also for proper advanced standing and/or credit from HPU. IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL (IBT) - 70

Students studying sociology at Hawai‘i Pacific University learn several sociological perspectives in the classroom, which have relevance in today's world. They will be able to critically discuss the role of various sociological theories in practical settings, and will understand the interaction between theory and practice. Sociology students learn the role of evidence and methodological approaches as a basis for examining issues and making recommendations for social change.<br><br>PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES<br><br> Identify theoretical underpinnings of societal phenomena at micro and macro levels, as global citizens.<br> Compare and contrast the types of methodological approaches that are particularly relevant to various fields within sociology.<br> Demonstrate an awareness of a variety of communication styles, which derive from the many geographic locations and cultures represented in course curricula and in those who study at HPU.<br> Understand and Use technology for identifying, locating, and retrieving information relevant to the practice of sociology.<br> Participate effectively in group processes and decision-making.
