The Sociology Graduate Program at Texas A&M University is a generalist program that supports a wide array of research interests. These slides provide an overview of the program. Doctoral students may declare a major in several specific areas. These include:<br><br>Crime, Law and Deviance<br>Culture<br>Demography<br>Organizational, Political and Economic Sociology<br>Race, Class and Gender<br>Social Psychology<br><br>Doctoral students also declare minors. These may be taken from any of the areas named here provided the minor does not duplicate the major area of concentration. In addition, students may work with their committees to formulate other minors not listed here. Please note, this option is not available for the major.<br><br>Students can enter our Sociology Graduate Program with or without a Master's degree. The 96-credit hour program (5-year timeline) is designed for students who enter our program either with a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in some other field besides sociology. Those in the 96-credit hour program are required to complete a Master's paper. The 64-credit hour program (4-year timeline) is for graduate students who enter our program with a recent Master's degree in sociology. The admission committee might decide to admit someone with a Master's degree to the 96-credit hour program to give the student more time for publishing.
