课程简介
Prepare yourself with the knowledge and training you need to work for positive social change. As a sociology major, youll study how humans relate to one another and why they thrive and flounder in different societies. By learning to ask important questions about human behavior, social inequalities, and institutional structures, youll develop the skills to solve problems, embrace diversity, and think globally. Suffolk underscores the importance of real-world experience. In addition to your coursework, as a junior and senior you'll have the chance to engage in practicums to conduct fieldwork and help underserved segments of the population. Our well-connected faculty help students obtain internships at a wide range of Boston-area sites, including local courts, youth services centers, schools, law firms, hospitals, crisis centers, social service providers, and shelters. We are all exposed to a mass culture that demeans communities of color, immigrants, poor families, women, LGBTQ individuals, and others. Rather than waiting for crises to occur, sociologists seek to understand, and change, the social forces that lead to systematic and interpersonal oppression. With this major, you can help make this change, too.

By completing your degree in just three years, you'll save on tuition, start working sooner, and learn alongside classmates who are just as motivated as you are. This program requires summer coursework. You'll be considered for any available financial aid programs (federal and institutional) and can receive your allotted institutional financial aid benefit throughout your three years here, including summers.
