The ideal doctoral applicant has demonstrated capabilities in research and writing, basic mathematical skills approximately equal to the first semester of calculus and a competence in statistics, some background in economics and government, and a theoretical and working knowledge of political and public policy processes. Applicants with strong academic credentials who are deficient in one or more of these areas may possibly be admitted to the program and will receive assistance in making up any deficiencies.

Graduate application and fee.
Unofficial transcripts from all previous institutions attended in the U.S.. For international institutions, transcripts may be unofficial but should include cumulative transcripts, degree certificate, individual semester marksheets (if applicable), and diploma (if applicable).
A current resume.
Three letters of recommendation from professional or academic contacts. (It is strongly recommended that at least one letter is from academia).
A 750-1,000 word written statement of your academic and professional goals. Please state your purpose in undertaking graduate study with this program. This statement should address your intellectual interests, academic objectives, career goals, and proposed topic(s) of graduate study. You should also explain how this program will help you fulfill your academic and professional objectives. The statement is a critical component of the application.
Writing sample (approximately 10-25 pages in length) such as a technical report, professional publication, or term or seminar paper.
Valid GRE scores (taken within five years prior to date of application).
TOEFL iBT - 100 or higher, 23 points in each section
IELTS- 7.0 overall, 6.5 subscore in all sections
