Applicants must:
hold an honours baccalaureate or equivalent with a minimum of a B+ average (based on Carleton University CGPA grade scale).*
demonstrate a commitment to and aptitude for political management through prior involvement in party or campus politics, grassroots organization, political advocacy, or similar experience.
* We have accepted applicants who have not met this requirement if they have extensive professional experience in political management.
Although there is no formal second language requirement for the degree, individuals preparing for political professions in Canada should have or develop a facility in French.
Transcript(s) All post-secondary transcripts are required and should be sent to Graduate Admissions. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable when first applying. Official transcripts are required when offer of admission is made.
Letters of Reference Two (2) are required. Recent graduates should submit letters from two former professors. Applicants with extensive work experience may submit letters from their place of employment.
Resume/CV One (1) is required.
Statement of Intent One (1) is required. This should outline your background, experience, and interest in the program (250-750 words limit).
Academic Writing Sample One (1) is required. Sample of academic written work (20 page maximum).
TOEFL iBT (including iBT Home Edition) - 86 (20 in reading and listening, 22 in speaking and writing)
IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 IELTS (minimum 6.0 in each band)

The Clayton H. Riddell Graduate Program in Political Management is an intensive master's degree designed to provide a professional foundation for students who will go on to leadership roles in the political offices and parties of the nation, and intended to contribute to a more constructive politics and well-informed policy decisions. This program is an important first for Canada. It insists on ethical comportment as a guiding principle at all times, along with respect for those on the other side of a partisan divide. The program is offered through the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs.<br><br>The program takes full advantage of Carleton's location in the nation's capital and draws on the university's longstanding strengths in the analysis of Canadian politics and governance, voting behaviour and electioneering, political communication, public opinion measurement and the design of persuasive campaigns.<br><br>The program is explicitly designed for those who intend to launch careers as staff to elected politicians, it will also be of value to those who may wish to go on to work for organizations and agencies that seek to influence government policy and priorities, whether these be NGOs, public or private sector companies, or grassroots movements.<br><br>Length: 1 year
