UIndy's health and physical education (HPE) program prepares students for teaching health and physical education in the K-12 school system. You'll begin working with students in the classroom from your very first semester of education coursework, developing teaching strategies in motor learning, communication, assessment, collaboration and use of technology. The School of Education and The Exercise Science Program work together to offer students a unique program that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Transition to Teaching Certificate. This program can be completed in 4.5 years.<br>To be eligible for a PE Health all-grade teaching license candidates will complete the coursework required for the Exercise Science/HPED and Transition to Teaching certification. After completing this program candidates will be able to complete a Master of Arts in Teaching with 6 additional hours of coursework. <br>UIndy's HPE program is recognized for quality teachers and excellent employment placement. In recent years, HPE graduates have achieved a 100% pass rate on the Praxis II, a standardized exam for teacher licensure.
