International freshman applicants must meet the following admission criteria:
Diploma with equivalent curriculum to that of a U.S. high school.
Official Transcripts must be received from all institutions in which the student has previously enrolled (high school and each college or university).
You must complete the minimum pre-professional curriculum with a grade of C or higher in the following courses by the end of the semester in which you apply:
ATRN 1171- Introduction to Athletic Training Lab
ATRN 1173- Introduction to Athletic Training
ATRN 2211- Emergency Care and First Aid Lab
ATRN 2213- Emergency Care and First Aid
BIOL 1134- Anatomy & Physiology I
You must have documentation of a minimum of 100 hours of clinical observation hours under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer.
As the admission process to the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training program is competitive, not all applicants who meet the aforementioned requirements for admission will be selected for admission to the program. Acceptance into the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training program will be based on the following criteria:
Prerequisite GPA (2.5 or higher)
Hours of Observation (100 hours)
Completed File (Program application has been completed, and letters of recommendation have been submitted)
Cumulative GPA (2.5 or higher)
Interview
Average of Preceptor Evaluations
TOEFL (Paper-based) - 550
TOEFL (Computer-based) - 213
TOEFL (Internet-based) - 79 (Writing - 20, Speaking - 20, Reading - 19, Listening - 20)

The mission of the Athletic Training Program at Midwestern State University is to provide an active learning environment that facilitates the use of athletic training theory to develop proficient practical skills and foster personal and professional excellence for the entry-level athletic trainer.<br><br>The baccalaureate program in Athletic Training at Midwestern State University vountarily withdrew its accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) (6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100 Austin, TX 78731-3184) in the spring of 2020. CAATE accepted the program's voluntary withdrawal on April 27, 2020. We will be teaching out the remain classes under CAATE standards through August 31, 2023. We will also be accepting new students into the program. Once students complete the undergraduate athletic training curriculum, they will be able to take the state of Texas licensure exam to work in Texas.<br><br>Goals:<br>Students will demonstrate Clinical Competence through the completion of clinical proficiencies and participation in a variety of clinical assignments.<br>Students will demonstrate Critical Thinking Skills through completion of Clinical Integrated Proficiencies, Game Day exams, and MOC BOC exams.<br>Students will demonstrate effective communication skills in the medical environment, through completion of SOAP notes, written papers, and oral practical exams.<br>Students will prepare successfully to pass the national Board of Certification Exam for Athletic Training Certification (MOC BOCs, Domain Exams, and BOC exam).<br>Students will demonstrate an understanding of Professionalism.
