To be considered for admission to the Haskayne DBA, an applicant should fulfill the following criteria:
At least 10 years of management experience, including seven years at the senior management or executive level, or
At least five years' experience as lecturer/instructor in a relevant field in a college or university program.
A Master's degree, such as an MBA or a relevant business-focused Master's degree (with a prior four-year baccalaureate degree) from a recognized institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.50 on a four-point scale. Students presenting credentials in an area other than business may be required to complete a qualifying period to gain a general business background before beginning the regular doctoral course requirements.
Students who do not present an MBA or other master's degree from a recognized postsecondary institution may be considered for admission. Exceptional candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree (i.e., a GPA of 3.50 or higher) who have substantial managerial experience will also be considered. Consult the DBA Program Director for further information.
Applicants for whom English is not a first language must also achieve either:
A score of 105 (online test) or 600 (paper-based test) on the TOEFL, or
A score of 7.5 or higher on the academic version of the IELTS

The ENTI area covers entrepreneurship and innovation, in the context of existing businesses, startups and social enterprise. Our faculty members tackle a number of aspects in entrepreneurship and innovation topics, ranging from how companies create and implement entrepreneurial strategies, to understanding the context and support for young and smaller companies, to investigating how entrepreneurs think and act within resource, industry, technological, and social contexts. The faculty research is supported by a variety of grants, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Government of Alberta, and private foundations. The faculty also creates innovative new courses and programs in entrepreneurship, empowering potential entrepreneurs throughout the university community. ENTI faculty and students are pleased to work with the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and with the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking. Our area has a thriving PhD program with students from all over the world working with faculty to conduct world-class research.
