To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.
SAT/ACT scores: We do not require SAT or ACT scores for admission or scholarship consideration
IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0 plus
TOEFL score 61 plus

Our accounting degree programs furnish the solid knowledge base and conceptual infrastructure our graduates will need to make immediately valuable and lasting contributions as business accounting professionals in a global economy.The accounting major provides students with the theories and procedures necessary to prepare them for the many facets of the accounting profession, such as public, managerial, tax and government accounting. Students graduating from the department are prepared to obtain employment in a competitive job market, start a business, or continue their education in graduate and professional degree programs.<br><br>If you graduate with a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting and have taken the appropriate electives, you are qualified to sit for the CPA exam in the State of Nevada.<br>Learning outcomes<br>With a bachelor's degree in accounting, students will be able to: Develop the ability to research professional accounting issues.<br> Demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of record keeping and financial reporting. Utilize technology in performing accounting tasks.<br> Demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of cost and managerial accounting. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of United States income taxation. Demonstrate knowledge of the basic processes and control systems operated by businesses.<br> Discern ethical conflicts and provide a framework for their resolution. Demonstrate knowledge of the international dimensions of the accounting profession.
