Major advances have been made in the field of finance in recent years. These advances encompass all facets, including theory, empirical research and the development of analytical tools for solving practical business problems. The Texas Tech University Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance prepares doctoral students to become highly-proficient in all of these facets within their area of specialization. Students in the program are acquainted with advanced training in theory and research methods, which prepare them to make significant contributions to academic research. The program's primary objective is to train doctoral students to be academic scholars and for a career in university teaching, research and publication of original research. Doctoral students will complete coursework in a finance specialization and also coursework in a supporting field (typically in economics and statistics). In addition, students will be exposed to the latest research from leading scholars from other universities through our departmental seminar series. This is a full-time program. Doctoral students typically take 9-12 credit hours per semester and are required to be continuously enrolled from the start of the program until graduation.
