课程简介
The tourism industry is in the middle of its largest disruption in recent memory. Successful operators need to go beyond knowing their subject matter, and gain broader skills and knowledge across all aspects of the modern industry in order to thrive. The Graduate Certificate in Tourism, Environmental and Cultural Heritage combines online learning with field trips that give you the chance to explore tourist hot spots in Tasmania, and learn about contemporary tourism issues first-hand from some of Tasmania's most successful locations. In your first semester, you'll get the chance to visit Tasmania's iconic Cradle Mountain Reserve. During this 4-day excursion, you will explore the origins, elements and tensions inherent in sustainable tourism. You'll also undertake a unit in Critical and Contested Issues in Cultural Heritage which includes a 4-day field trip to Tasmania's Port Arthur Historic Site. Your studies in this unit will provide valuable insights to the preservation of cultural heritage sites while allowing tourists to appreciate the rich history the site has to offer. This course is informed by an Industry Board of major organisations including Qantas, Tourism Tasmania, the Port Arthur Historic Management Authority, Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, Brand Tasmania, and Mona. During a period of such rapid change, the input from the board ensures that your educational experience is aligned with the movements and trends of the industry.
