MA English Studies aims to equip you with an understanding of selective aspects of English literatures and English Language, particularly when applied to creative and professional writing. The course will provide you with appropriate forms of historical knowledge, theoretical understanding, and analytical skills in the study of, and creativity, in these areas. You'll get an opportunity as a creative writing student to advance your skills above undergraduate degree level, and will successfully complete a dissertation using a range of research and creative skills you'll learn as you progress through the course.<br><br>The course provides directly relevant professional development if you are employed in teaching literature and/or language in secondary schools or further education (FE) institutions, or if you want to use these skills in creative writing and professional writing contexts such as marketing, advertising, and print and broadcast media. It is also designed to prepare you for advancing to a higher level of doctoral work if this is the route you'd like to take next.
