To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
If you are not admissible, you will be offered enrollment to a Nevada NSHE Community College. You will be offered admission to a Nevada university once you have completed a minimum of 24 college transferable semester credits at a NSHE Community College and have a 2.5 GPA in all your coursework.
If you are a student who does not meet our academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University. You must also meet the 13 core course requirements in English, mathematics, social studies and natural sciences to be considered for admission.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.

The Department of Art offers a diverse program of bachelor's degree instruction in both art history and studio art. The major options include painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking and digital media.The Department of Art offers a number of exciting opportunities for students to become actively involved and engaged in real-world experiences. The department boasts a world-renowned art museum, a cutting-edge fabrication lab and a printing press that brings the history of book arts alive.The Bachelor of Fine Arts program is interdisciplinary by design, students accepted into the program come from all disciplines within the department including art history, book & publication arts, ceramics, digital media, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography and videography, printmaking and sculpture. Students work to explore their creative development in an atmosphere that encourages cross-discipline activities and engagement.<br><br><br>Student Learning Outcomes<br><br>Students will be able to:<br><br> demonstrate the historical knowledge, critical perspectives and visual sophistication regarding the development of Art from the past to the present.<br> achieve a basic mastery and scholarly competence in the academic endeavors of Art History.
