Students in the printmaking program are encouraged to develop a solid technical foundation and still remain open to experimentation and aesthetic self discovery. Emphasis is placed on the use of safer printmaking processes and materials. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Art Studio is intended for those students whose goal is the professional production of visual art. Only those students serious about preparing for a studio career in the visual arts and willing to commit the time and energy necessary to achieve professional competence in their chosen area of studio emphasis should enroll. The art studio major allows students to develop visual vocabulary, foster a deeper understanding of the formal visual relationships present in the art and design process, enhance their aesthetic awareness of art forms, and to promote the competency to independently seek further professional growth.
