课程简介
The BFA in Studio concentration is our professional degree in fine arts that includes tracks in ceramics, painting/drawing, printmaking, sculpture, weaving, and a self-designed track where disciplines can be combined. This 73-hour program emphasizes both concept and application, with a focus on the development of an individual, professional studio practice and/or graduate work, as well as work in a range of fields and industries that make use of critical thinking and artistic skills. 6 Studio Tracks: Ceramics Track, Painting/Drawing Track, Printmaking Track, Sculpture Track, Weaving Track, Multi-Discipline Track. Ceramics is housed in rooms 151&152 on the ground floor of FAC building. The first room is a common workspace separated into three distinct areas of production. Fourteen electric wheels and a hand building area constitute the first third of the space. The middle section of the studio is designated for glazing processes. Two stainless steel tables, covered glaze containers, and a stainless steel sink serve this area. The final section of the room is separated into a series of open studio spaces for advanced majors. Shelving runs throughout their individual spaces. The facility also has two large air-scrubbing units that are installed in the ceiling to remove fine dust from this common workspace. The second room is primarily used for firing purposes, with mobile shelves used for drying ware. The remaining space is used to mix clay and glazes and store dry materials. This portion of the facility houses four electric kilns, a large gas kiln (Bailey), one Soldner clay mixer and an attending dust-collection system for the clay mixer. Other stationary equipment includes a spray booth also accompanied with a dust collecting vacuum system.
