Official High School or College transcripts must be sent directly from the schools attended in the U.S. or abroad. Foreign transcripts must also be accompanied by a Credential Evaluation by a certified credentialing service.
SAT: minimum score of 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section
ACT: minimum composite score of 23 with a score of 19 on the English section
TOEFL: minimum score of 500 on UTEP's institutional paper based exam or
a minimum score of 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT)
UTEP does not accept IELTS scores for admission.

The UTEP undergraduate program in Art Education is designed to prepare students for teaching careers in the public or private school art classroom with a BA in art education degree and state certification in all levels of art. The primary goal of the program is to provide curriculum, theory and classroom training in the visual arts for future teachers.<br><br>Students will develop the following marketable skills:<br><br>Confidence: Be self-assured through appreciating your own talents, abilities, skills, and qualities<br>Communication: Reach mutual understanding through effective exchange of information, ideas, and feelings<br>Critical thinking: Analyze and evaluate issues in order to solve problems and develop informed opinions<br>Global awareness: Understand and appreciate people, cultures, and ideas from around the world that impact our community<br>Problem-solving: Find solutions to difficult or complex issues<br>Social responsibility: Act ethically and responsibly for the benefit of society and the public good<br><br>In the Art Education program, students will participate in a variety of art and educational theory courses as a part of their preparation and certification. Traditional studio and art history classes as well as a comprehensive block of art education courses are an integral part of the degree program. Students will also experience a rigorous art teaching internship in the public schools in partnership with the College of Education and local school districts.
