For students applying to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Fine Arts.
In addition to the general University admission application, you must also submit:
a Fine Arts application
a portfolio
To be considered for admission, a minimum final grade of 65% or the equivalent is required in all university-preparatory courses reviewed.Applicants may be considered for early admission based on their final grade 11 transcripts.TOEFL score of 90 (internet test), 580 (paper test), 213 (computer test) (DI Code 0939) with no band score lower than 20. International English Language Testing System – Academic (IELTS) score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6. To be considered 'official,' transcripts must be forwarded directly to Mount Allison's registrar's office by the issuing institution. Depending on the time of year you apply, we require a Grade 11 transcript & Grade 12 course list (or) mid-year Grade 12 transcript

The Bachelor of Fine Arts is primarily intended to develop creative ability in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.<br>The major part of the program consists of studio work, and includes instruction in the principles of design and the use of various media.<br>In addition to the studio classes, illustrated lectures and seminar courses in art history are designed to improve your artistic judgement and assist in acquiring an ability to write and speak about works of art. The study of Fine Arts helps you develop your artistic and creative abilities, and your ability to think critically, write, and speak about works of art.Fine Arts at Mount Allison offers a unique approach for students looking to obtain professional training – combining studio work and instruction with the freedom of an immersive liberal and science curriculum.Our goal is to provide students with a deepened awareness of themselves and their place in their environment, community and culture, through study and production of the visual arts. Our curriculum balances intellectual and hands-on exploration of the visual arts, training students to become professional artists in a rigorous, student-centered learning environment. Fine Arts courses are instructed by practicing Artists and Art Historians whose courses are designed and coordinated to establish a strong foundation in all facets of the visual arts. Research and production in the visual arts is integral to the development and expression of cultural identities that can both reflect and challenge the values and norms of our pluralistic society. In a rapidly changing environment we prepare students with skills and abilities in Fine Arts that will enable them to find a place in the diverse cultures and values of Canada and the world.
