艺术系的目标是将学生的艺术技能和知识发展到专业水平。这为我们的社会提供了领导力，并为我们的学生为将来在艺术相关领域或研究生院的就业做好了准备。该部还设定了其总体目标，使其被公认为是艺术和艺术教育的领导者，是大湖湾地区和整个州的重要文化资源。本学位专为希望学习平面设计技术和实践而又不修读另一门学科的未成年人而设计。建议从事一般业务，沟通或市场营销的未成年人。可以从该专业获得艺术副修。学生不得对适用于图形设计专业和艺术辅修课程的课程进行重复计算。仍然必须从其他课程中获得所需的学分。
SVSU's Graphic Design program prepares students to analyze, understand and communicate in the language of design. Students learn to apply their knowledge through the innovation and creation of new and effective designs. Students work closely with professors in small classes to develop their artistic talent, skill and discipline. In addition to a rich and varied curriculum, that includes branding, animation, time-based media, website, application, logo and typography design, students have access to numerous scholarships as well as opportunities to study abroad and exhibit their work in gallery settings. Renowned artists regularly visit as SVSU enthusiastically fosters a diverse, supportive and vibrant art community. Graduates from the program go on to careers in business, education and government, or enter highly respected graduate schools throughout the nation.
