User experience (UX) designers are trained professionals who understand how to ensure that the entire experience a person has with a product, service, environment or message is a positive one. UX designers employ a wide range of methods for:<br> Gathering information about users and their tasks,<br> Analyzing user needs,<br> Creating design solutions,<br> Iterating designs through testing and evaluation, and<br> Measuring efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction.<br><br>UX professionals are in high demand and have been ranked among the top 10 best jobs. This is likely due to the fact that UX professionals are valuable in a wide range of industries including retail, medicine, technology, finance, education and government.<br><br>Laurier's approach to UX goes beyond designing for the web and extends UX to the design of 3D and immersive environments, as well as the design of processes and services.<br><br>In our Bachelor of Design (BDes) in User Experience Design program, you'll gain hands-on experience in labs and studio environments where you will apply your knowledge to real-world design challenges. All of this is available at our Brantford campus, taught by experienced faculty.<br><br>Interested students can apply to participate in co-op and complete their degree in five years while gaining practical work experience. Students in co-op complete their work term during fourth year and return to campus for year five.
