To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
If you are not admissible, you will be offered enrollment to a Nevada NSHE Community College. You will be offered admission to a Nevada university once you have completed a minimum of 24 college transferable semester credits at a NSHE Community College and have a 2.5 GPA in all your coursework.
If you are a student who does not meet our academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University. You must also meet the 13 core course requirements in English, mathematics, social studies and natural sciences to be considered for admission.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.

The Bachelor of Arts in theatre at the University of Nevada, Reno trains students in a variety of perspectives.<br><br>Student actors profit from individualized mentoring by faculty directors, amplifying personal growth and collaborative creation. Because acting demands knowledge of psychology, history and language, the acting specialization is enhanced by a liberal arts education, complemented by a course dedicated to prepare students for career opportunities in the performing arts or graduate school.<br><br>Theatre majors who emphasize in Theatre Design/Technology receive individualized training and mentoring as backstage technicians, scenery and costume shop workers, stage electricians and as designers of scenery, costumes and lighting.<br><br><br>Careers with a degree in theatre<br><br>Graduates of the theatre program in the School of the Arts have gone on to become extraordinary performing artists. Other than becoming a professional actor, theatre majors are also prepared to work in education and any public service field, which requires interaction with the public. Our graduates gain highly-regarded liberal arts skills in communication, writing and analytical thinking which sets students up for a variety of exciting careers.
