The Theatre Studies Concentration provides a course of study which combines theatre history and textual analysis with hands-on performance and production experiences to prepare students for a wide-range of careers within the theatre. Theatre Studies includes: directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, arts management, and performance studies (such as theatre history, criticism, dramatic literature, critical theory, applied theatre, or theatre for social change). Students interested in focusing in one of these areas will develop an individualized course plan and be assigned a faculty mentor. A student may earn credit for a course in the School of Theatre and Dance by passing an examination. The school administers credit by examination tests during only the first two weeks of a fall or spring semester. The tests will not be offered during summer sessions. A student can take a credit by examination test only once during a semester.
