minimum 2.75 GPA in your last 60 hours of undergraduate course work (plus any complet-ed graduate courses)

What qualities, values, characteristics, and/or skills do you pos-sess that make you a strong candidate for your selected program at Texas State?
What do you hope to gain from the program, and how does this re-late to your personal and professional goals?
Discuss your plans to pursue doctoral studies as well, if applicable.

The School of Music is committed to excellence in music teaching and learning for all students at Texas State. As a unit within Texas State, we provide a liberal education with emphasis on cultural values by offering special course work in the arts and humanities.The School of Music offers thorough preparation for careers in music, music education, music performance and sound recording technology. In addition, it provides opportunities for all university students to develop and/or enhance musical skills and cultural understanding. The School of Music also serves as an outstanding cultural resource for the university and San Marcos communities.The School of Music offers a Master of Music - Music Education degree with concentrations in choral, general, instrumental, and Kodály education. In addition, the School of Music offers a Master of Music degree with concentrations in classical, jazz, and Latin performance, history and literature, music theory, composition, and conducting (choral, instrumental, and orchestral).<br><br>Before prospective graduate students are approved for one of the music specializations, they must audition or complete a portfolio review by the appropriate School of Music area faculty. In addition, they must interview with the Coordinator of Music Graduate Studies or area coordinator. Students must have an undergraduate music degree in order to be considered for admission into the M.M. degree with one of the specializations under music.
