The program trains students for careers as professional musicians -- performers in classical or jazz music, and composers. After completing the basic curriculum, the student chooses an area of specialization. Students may specialize in composition, jazz, a keyboard instrument, string/harp, guitar, voice, wind instrument, or percussion. They train in solo performance, coached ensemble, and conducted ensemble. Hone your craft as a violinist and build a solid foundation in music theory by majoring in Performance. The highly lauded Fred Fox School of Music offers violinists a chance to study among fellow student musicians, renowned faculty performers and esteemed music professionals. Students seeking their Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Violin emphasis also audition for placement to satisfy a conducted large-ensemble requirement. Orchestra ensembles include the Arizona Symphony and the Philharmonic. Mariachi Arizona is another ensemble option, immersing students in a rich musical heritage.
