To address health issues such as childhood obesity or the spread of sexually transmitted infections, the study of social, behavioral, and cultural factors is essential. In the Behavioral, Social, and Community Health concentration, you'll learn about the determinants of health and how to design, implement, and evaluate effective health behavior change interventions in the community. Coursework and meaningful real-world experiences will build the skills and knowledge you need to be a leader in the public or private sector. Students in the Master of Public Health program have opportunities to work with faculty members on service, teaching, and research projects. Growing public interest in optimal and equitable health outcomes for all is increasing the demand for public health professionals. Public health careers can be found in local, state, and federal government, nonprofit organizations, businesses and corporations, hospitals, county health departments, universities, health foundations and health-based grant projects. Graduates of this program assume leadership roles that influence education, policy development, advocacy efforts, research, program development, implementation, and evaluation.
