Application for Admission.
Possess a current New York State Registered Nurse license and current registration.
One-year recent experience in a clinical area requiring acute care skills, i.e., family medicine or internal medicine office, community clinics, home care, hospital setting (med/surg or specialty floor) or specialty office practice preferred.
Official copies of undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts from all college(s) or universities attended.
Bachelor and Master degree in Nursing required.
The three undergraduate mandatory courses are Health Assessment, Nursing Research, and Statistics and must have at least a minimum grade of B to be considered.
Students who have not taken an undergraduate statistics course within five years are given the opportunity to take a statistics course during the first semester of the AGNP advanced certificate program.
International students are also required to achieve a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 79 Internet-based (a minimum listening score of 22 is also required), 225 Computer-based, or 563 Paper-based. IELTS of 6.5 or above is also acceptable.

LIU Brooklyn offers the Advance Certificate in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGNP). The 32-credit program is designed to be completed in five semesters (fall, spring of part-time study. Graduates of the Advance Certificate in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program are eligible for a New York State licensure as an Adult- Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and will be eligible for national board certification through the national certifying agencies for advanced practice nursing (American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners). <br>Advanced Certificate in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner offers nurses who already have earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in nursing, the opportunity to increase their expertise in the area of care for adults in a variety of primary care settings. In New York State, the graduate nurse practitioners are autonomous working in collaboration with a physician but are not supervised by a physician. The nurse practitioner does not require collaboration after successfully completing 3600 clinical hours in practice.
