Nurse-midwives and primary care pediatric nurse practitioners can provide health care for various life stages and purposes: during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, newborn care, family planning and gynecologic needs for women, well-child care and the diagnosis and management of common acute and chronic health problems. For many nurses who choose an advanced degree in midwifery, pursuing a dual certification in primary care pediatrics allows for a natural expansion of their practice beyond maternal health. At the U-M School of Nursing, our faculty are focused on providing the comprehensive education necessary for you to successfully complete both board certifications.<br><br>The program combines the core strengths of the U-M School of Nursing's top-ranked Nurse-midwifery and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner programs to prepare culturally competent practitioners who provide a full range of primary care.
