Submission of the following documents:
Three letters of recommendation, indicating potential for graduate study, from persons who can attest to the applicant's academic ability, clinical competence, and commitment. Optimally, these letters will be from a nursing faculty, a clinical supervisor, and a healthcare provider (APRN, PA, or MD).
Current resume or curriculum vitae
Sealed official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended
A personal interview with a designated faculty member may also be required.
A bachelor's degree in Nursing or the equivalent bachelors and/or graduate degrees in nursing from a foreign institution.
Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse and/or advanced practice nurse in the United States upon matriculation. Current license as a registered nurse and/or advanced practice nurse in the State of Florida, or a compact multi-state license allowing practicein the State of Florida, before the first clinical course.
Applicants to the Nursing Major are required to complete both a NursingCAS application and a USF Graduate Studies Application.
Applicants interested in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner concentration must have at least one year of ICU/acute care experience prior to matriculation to meet professional practice requirements for clinical placements
A Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, and from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program
Minimum 3.00 GPA at the graduate level
Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse upon admission or by end of 1st semester after matriculation.
National certification in area of advanced practice
Minimum test scores required to determine proficiency are: IELTS - 6.5, TOEFL (iBT – 79, PBT – 550)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is the highest practice degree any nurse can achieve. Our DNP program prepares nurses with the highest level of scientific knowledge and practice expertise to ensure quality of care and positive patient outcomes. Students with degrees in nursing are offered the opportunity to acquire the competencies required for entry to advanced nursing practice while also completing the requirements for the DNP degree.<br><br>This program prepares graduates to exercise advanced levels of clinical judgment, systems thinking, and expanded responsibility and accountability in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based strategies to improve individual patient and population health outcome.
