课程简介
The Master of Science is the graduate degree at the master's level of the College of Nursing. The graduate program in nursing provides a broad range of clinical and classroom-based education with a strong emphasis on patient-centered practice. Several options are available which give students a solid background in theory and foundations of nursing, and expose them to the latest technology and ideas in nursing. By entering our graduate program, you will become a part of one of the nation's premier research universities. Our students have access to exceptional faculty and research facilities and the support services of a large university, while benefiting from the high degree of personal attention and student interaction usually found in much smaller departments. We encourage you to review the information on our graduate program and the various options available to you as a student in the College of Nursing.
There are two options available leading to the Master of Science in nursing:
Traditional Master's: The Traditional Master of Science curriculum has three pillars: the core curriculum, the specialty core courses, and clinical experience. The core curriculum is designed to ensure that you attain mastery of a base of knowledge that is critical to all graduate-prepared nurses. The specialty core courses allow you to achieve mastery in at least one specialty, preparing you for certification in that specialty. The clinical experience gives you the opportunity to practice at an advanced level.
Post-Master's: The Post-Master's study option prepares practicing nurses who already have a master's degree in nursing for advanced specialty certification. Students in this program do not earn a degree from The Ohio State University. After you are admitted, you will work with a faculty advisor to create a curriculum plan to meet the certification requirements. You will complete any of the OSU coursework that was not included in your prior graduate program, as well as, specialty coursework and precepted clinical placements for the specialty area. In order to waive courses completed at another institution, a copy of the syllabus from the term the course was taken will be required.
