Ball State's Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology has a long history of producing outstanding graduates, as well as service to the community through our clinics.We prepare our students for a variety of exciting careers and offer a program of study for every career ambition.Our history is really a story of a vibrant department where students and faculty work together closely both within the classroom and in clinical settings. The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology also assists our students to obtain the proper licensure when appropriate.Our graduates go on to become teachers, clinicians, researchers, managers, and a variety of other critical occupations in the exciting field of health care.Help people overcome speech, cognitive (thinking), and swallowing disorders through Ball State's major in speech pathology and audiology.As a pre-professional program, this major is for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a master's degree in speech-language pathology or a doctorate of audiology (AuD).As a graduate, you will be well prepared to pursue further studies in order to become a speech-language pathologist, a highly in-demand career field.The focus of this major is the study of human communication and its disorders. It includes disorders of speech, language, swallowing, and hearing. Communication disorders can be congenital (existing at or dating from fetal development or birth) or acquired and can affect individuals of any age.
