Prospective first-year students must:
Have a 3.00 recalculated grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A= 4.00) from a secondary school.
Please note: GPA recalculation occurs during the admissions evaluation process.
Have three years of high school work.
Please note: If you are currently in high school, the University of Arizona needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then Arizona needs to see 10–12 grade work.
Have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
Official college/university transcripts from each international institution you have attended will be required at the time of enrollment.
If you have attended any college or university outside of the United States during or post-high school, unofficial transcripts from each institution you have attended are sufficient for initial evaluation.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for initial evaluation. At any time, you may be contacted to submit official/verified transcripts.
Official transcripts showing grades for all years of secondary/high school and official exam results or certificates from your country will be required before you enroll at the University of Arizona.

Students learn content similar to what they will encounter in their first year as undergraduate students and thereby improve their language abilities. They also enroll in a CESL-supported general education course for credit, this course will count toward any major at University of Arizona.
With CESL's English Language Endorsement, students in the U-Track Pathway can fulfill UA's minimum English language proficiency requirement without taking an additional TOEFL or IELTS exam.

Elementary and secondary schools are most affected by the shortage of interpreters for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in Arizona and across the nation. The Bachelor of Science in Deaf Studies with an emphasis in Educational Interpreting prepares students to become interpreters for deaf and hard-of-hearing children in educational settings. In addition to becoming fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), students gain a cultural appreciation and respect for deaf culture, utilize current theories/models of interpreting, and gain practical experience through school-based internships.<br><br>LEARNING OUTCOMES<br>Critical Thinking, Students will summarize, synthesize, and critically analyze ideas from multiple sources in order to draw well-supported conclusions and solve problems.<br>Ethics and Social Responsibility, Students will make reasoned ethical judgments, showing awareness of multiple value systems and taking responsibility for the consequences of their actions. They will apply these judgments, using collaboration and leadership skills, to promote social justice in their local, national, and global communities.<br>Identity and Culture, Students will demonstrate sensitivity and tolerance of complex social identities, including deaf identities, and the interrelations within and among diverse cultures and groups.<br>Knowledge and Inquiry, Students will apply knowledge, modes of inquiry, and technological competence from a variety of disciplines in order to understand human experience and the natural world.<br>Language and Communication, Students will use American Sign Language (ASL) and written English to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, for a variety of purposes, and in a variety of settings.
