The two-year post-bachelor's degree option is designed for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and have met the admission requirements for graduate entry. While students can be eligible for admission with any undergraduate degree, having a health-related major such as exercise science, public health education, health and physical education teaching, biology, psychology or pre-OT/PT is strongly encouraged as they fulfill the necessary prerequisites for admission into the master's program. See below for required undergraduate courses.
Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
Have a minimum grade of C in prerequisite courses
NOTE: Advanced Placement (AP) Credits are not accepted as prerequisites for the athletic training graduate program.
Submit via ATCAS three recommendation letters, including one from a certified athletic trainer
Complete an interview with the athletic training faculty/staff, if invited. Interviews will begin after the priority application date of November 15 and will continue through the rolling application process until the cohort is filled.
Complete a minimum of 50 observation hours with a certified athletic trainer or sports medicine/rehabilitation healthcare provider. (Note: This will be waived this year only due to COVID-19. If you have already completed these hours, please upload proof of observation in the documents section on ATCAS.)
Submit a writing sample via ATCAS
Receive and submit a physical examination by a healthcare provider prior to matriculation
Submit your immunization record prior to matriculation
Students for whom English is a second language are required to submit TOEFL iBT or IELTS score reports. The University of Indianapolis institutional minimum is 79 although individual graduate programs may have higher proficiency requirements.

Athletic trainers work with physicians to provide prevention, clinical diagnosis, emergency treatment, therapeutic care and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. They also prescribe exercise programs or make diet recommendations for better performance and nutrition.
