B.S. or M.S. degree in pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
One year of organic chemistry with laboratory (equivalent to CHEM 624, 625, 626, and 627) and preferably, at least one course each in physical chemistry and biochemistry.
GRE (and TOEFL, if applicable) scores
Other general KU admission requirements must also be met
With the above background, required core graduate courses can be completed within the first two years of study. The average time to complete the Ph. D. degree is about five years. Inquiries are welcome at any time.

Statement of Purpose: This narrative should include information on the applicant's motivation to study Medicinal Chemistry, his or her long term objectives, and the general areas of research offered within the Department that most interest the applicant (Rank in 1, 2, 3 order the areas of a) Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry, b) Natural Products / Chemical Biology, and c) Medicinal Biochemistry.)
GRE scores (codes: KU-6871, Medicinal Chemistry - 0621) Although not mandatory, applicants are encouraged to also take the subject test in Chemistry (if possible)
Minimum overall score 6.0 with no part score below 5.5, Reading, TOEFL IBT- Listening, and Writing part scores at least 20
