To be eligible for admission to a graduate program at Stanford, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
Completion of a bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association, or
Completion of an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree from a college or university of recognized standing.
3 letters of recommendation
At least one letter of recommendation should be from a faculty member at the last school you attended as a full-time student (unless you have been out of school for more than five years)
GRE or MCAT test is not required for AY22 application cycle due to challenges and inequities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic
TOEFL scores or a TOEFL waiver, if applicable
Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages, 1 inch margins, 12 point font, single spaced)
The Statement of Purpose should describe succinctly your reasons for applying to CHPR at Stanford, your preparation for this field of study, research interests, future career plans, and other aspects of your background and interests which may aid the admissions committee in evaluating your aptitude and motivation for graduate study.
Official transcript(s) from all postsecondary institutions you have attended as a full-time student for one year (i.e. three quarters or two semesters) or longer.
You must upload one scanned version of your official transcript(s) in the online application. Please make sure that you upload a copy of the unofficial transcript for every school attended into your application.
If admitted, you must provide official transcripts (direct from the institution) to Stanford Graduate Admissions for review and verification. Any offer of admission is contingent upon authentication of official transcripts submitted directly to Graduate Admissions. Electronic transcripts are preferred. We cannot accept transcripts that are not sent directly from your post secondary institution or its secure electronic transcript transfer service. See here for more transcript information.

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Community Health and Prevention Research (CHPR) consists of a minimum of 45 units and is designed for students pursuing health-related careers focusing on chronic disease prevention, health and wellness promotion, and the pursuit of health equity. The growing and increasingly recognized and valued fields of community health and prevention research are concerned with expanding and enhancing disease prevention and control efforts in communities at local, state, national, and international levels. The Stanford Prevention Research Center (SPRC), a world-renowned research center founded in 1972, recognizes that community health and prevention research play an increasingly vital role within the field of medicine, the study of global health, and population-level efforts to prevent and reduce chronic diseases.
