All of our courses promote critical reading and thinking, and four core courses are also designated ''writing attentive'' to deliver consistent, sequenced training in academic research and writing. We offer a variety of ''hands-on'' courses in fiction, poetry, and writing, and for Honours students in their fourth year, seminar classes of 15 to 18 students are offered on a wide range of subjects. The Department also offers four more specialized degree options: a B.A. Honours English with Concentration in Creative Writing, a Co-op option, a Specialization in Global Literatures within the Bachelor of Global and International Studies (B.G.In.S.) Honours, and a Stream in Global Literatures within the General Bachelor of Global and International Studies (B.G.In.S.) General.

Located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Carleton's Creative Writing Concentration offers students an inspiring selection of workshop-based courses in such genres as fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, and more.
