The English department's undergraduate program offers a broad spectrum of courses, including British and American literature, creative writing, women and gender studies, cultural studies, literary theory, media studies and film. Students will develop critical skills necessary for the analysis of literature and other cultural forms, and develop and refine skills in both written and oral communication. Upon completing the BA degree with a major in English, students will be able to demonstrate: Competence in literary analysis. Understanding of literature in relation to its historical and socio-cultural contexts. Disciplinary-specific methodological, critical, and theoretical training. Critical writing skills in papers of varying length. Disciplinary-specific research knowledge.
