The Intensive English Program at Seattle Central consists of three levels, and is designed for international students with Beginning through Intermediate levels of English. The program focuses on all of the skill areas: speaking, listening, grammar, reading, and writing. The Beginning level is aimed at students who may have studied English in their home countries, but have limited experience in real use of the language and require additional instruction in the fundamentals of the English language. The Intermediate level is fairly advanced, for example, students read authentic materials from books, magazines, newspapers, and a variety of sources. The program calendar is divided into three 10-week terms (Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters) and one 8-week quarter (Summer). Each quarter includes approximately 200 hours of class time.
