Bachelor of Applied Science in Molecular Biosciences should possess the skills necessary for careers in a variety of disciplines such as molecular biology, medicine, forensics, biochemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience, food chemistry, and environmental science.<br><br>Graduates should have a thorough understanding of the scientific disciplines underpinning molecular biosciences, as well as extensive laboratory experience using state-of-the-art equipment. They should also bring an understanding of the complex environment surrounding the biosciences as well as the business skills needed to manage a project.<br><br>Degree recipients should be able to:<br><br>Integrate laboratory skills and theory into job-related tasks<br>Apply the scientific method and good experimental design in the workplace<br>Read, understand, and carry out protocols and use appropriate laboratory equipment with minimal supervision<br>Analyze and summarize scientific data using analytical and computational tools<br>Communicate scientific ideas in either written or oral formats in a manner that is appropriate for either a technical or non-technical audience<br>Read, understand and discuss current research papers in molecular biosciences<br>Appraise societal, economic and ethical issues related to their area of expertise<br>Be prepared for immediate employment through a capstone project in a laboratory setting<br>Engage in continuing professional development through lifelong learning
