The B.A. degree program is provided for the student who has a general interest in the biological sciences but who does not plan to pursue advanced work in graduate school or undertake professional achievements in biological sciences. This program offers the basic courses for students whose career plans include the biological sciences, public policy or environmental studies. The department currently offers two undergraduate degrees: a B.S. in Biology, and a B.A. in Biology. It combines strong research orientation in the basic sciences with a concern for community health and environmental problems. It offers excellent preparation for professional and research careers as well as training for community health workers concerned with the educational needs of the global community.
