B+ (B- for Engineering) minimum average, based on a full year equivalent of final year courses (3rd/4th level) relevant to the program

Degrees and grades from foreign universities are evaluated for their equivalency to McMaster's. Please contact the program for specific details.
Departments or programs may establish additional requirements, such as scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
Admission is competitive: meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission
The admission decision is not subject to appeal
Applicants who do not meet the above mentioned requirements, should consult the Graduate Calendar to determine the requirements for exceptional cases
The Program welcomes candidates with undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry, Biology, Medicine, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Health Sciences, Pharmacology and Physiology, Arts and Science, Integrated Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Life Sciences as well as Kinesiology. Applicants with Engineering, Business and other backgrounds with a minor or experience in Health/Life Science will be considered.
Applicants whose post-secondary education language of instruction is not English are required to supply evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language. The most common evidence is a score of at least 92 (iBT), 580 (paper-based test) or 237 (computer-based test) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). For IELTS (Academic test), a minimum score of 7.0 is required by the Medical Sciences program.

The Medical Sciences Graduate Program provides opportunities for multidisciplinary graduate education in the Health Sciences within several areas relevant to human health. A research intensive program in biomedical and health-related fields, which prepares students for future careers in translational research relevant to human health. Ongoing interactions between basic scientists and clinical faculty within the program foster unique opportunities for translational research spanning multiple departments and disciplines.
