Geology involves the study of the materials that make up earth and the processes that mould its surface. Geologists are vital for understanding the development of mineral resources and the long-term maintenance of the natural environment. They enjoy being outdoors, using detective skills and making discoveries. In this specialisation, you'll learn about the key properties of geological materials and systems, and develop in-depth knowledge about geological phenomena. In your field-based experiences, you'll proficiently use geological techniques to describe, interpret and predict geological relationships and models. You'll also do lab work with rocks, minerals, sediments, fossils and ores. You'll collect, record, evaluate and interpret data to investigate geological processes and make scientifically relevant arguments. You'll solve geological problems and formulate hypotheses.
