You will have the opportunity to use your problem-solving skills to develop realistic games in a competitive gaming environment. A decade ago, people probably wouldn't have noticed if the cape the game hero was wearing didn't flap in the wind as he ran, or that the boxes in the corner of the room of the dungeon didn't fall over when they are run into in a fight. Today, serious gamers notice and demand this type of realism in their virtual worlds. This is where your maths and problem-solving capabilities come into play. Complex formulae are used in games design to create realistic scenes, and knowledge of mathematics will certainly aid your understanding. This double degree aims to provide you with opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge in mathematics and in games and interactive environments. You will develop the ability to apply mathematics, statistics, computational methods and decision science to real world problems. <br><br>The aim of the Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments is to provide you with the necessary skills, knowledge and values to be succesfully employed within the computer games industry or to develop game applications for a broad range of industry sectors (for example: government, finance, education). In this double degree, you will complete the requirements for two separate degrees in four years. The course consists of units in both Games and Interactive Environments and Mathematics. In the Games and Interactive Environments component you will complete core units in introductory design, games studies, professional skills and basic programming and then choose one of these majors: Animation, Game Design, Software Technologies. In your mathematics component, you will complete core units that provide a foundation for both study and future work in mathematics and games and interactive environments, and then choose one of these majors: Decision Science, Operations Research, Statistics.
