To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.
SAT/ACT scores: We do not require SAT or ACT scores for admission or scholarship consideration
IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0 plus
TOEFL score 61 plus

Biogeochemists study the physical, chemical, and biological processes that occur in soils and ecosystems. This includes flows of energy, mass, carbon, nutrients, and water and how these flows regulate ecosystem processes and ecosystem services. The Soil Biogeochemistry specialization prepares students for careers in soil science, including its sub-disciplines soil ecology, soil physics, soil morphology and soil chemistry. Students learn about the role of soils in ecosystem processes related to nutrient cycling, carbon sequestration, and other ecosystem services.<br><br>The courses that are part of this specialization provide theoretical and practical training in soil science with students acquiring skills needed for:<br><br> field investigations of soils,chemical and physical soil analyses and interpretation of data, and reporting, including writing and presentation.<br><br>After completing the necessary coursework, students are prepared for graduate study or may enter employment with state and federal agencies, private firms, and non-profit organizations.
