Prospective first-year students must:
Have a 3.00 recalculated grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A= 4.00) from a secondary school.
Please note: GPA recalculation occurs during the admissions evaluation process.
Have three years of high school work.
Please note: If you are currently in high school, the University of Arizona needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then Arizona needs to see 10–12 grade work.
Have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
Official college/university transcripts from each international institution you have attended will be required at the time of enrollment.
If you have attended any college or university outside of the United States during or post-high school, unofficial transcripts from each institution you have attended are sufficient for initial evaluation.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for initial evaluation. At any time, you may be contacted to submit official/verified transcripts.
Official transcripts showing grades for all years of secondary/high school and official exam results or certificates from your country will be required before you enroll at the University of Arizona.

Students learn content similar to what they will encounter in their first year as undergraduate students and thereby improve their language abilities. They also enroll in a CESL-supported general education course for credit, this course will count toward any major at University of Arizona.
With CESL's English Language Endorsement, students in the U-Track Pathway can fulfill UA's minimum English language proficiency requirement without taking an additional TOEFL or IELTS exam.

The Bachelor of Science in Geography with a Geographic Information Science emphasis offers courses in cutting-edge GIS and geographic information systems technology (GIST) to fill the growing worldwide demand for skilled geospatial professionals. The program offers courses in remote sensing, cartography, spatial modeling, and the application of GIS for land assessment, wildlife conservation, transportation and the social sciences. Students also gain skills in mathematical and computational thinking, problem-solving, and oral and written communication. Students pursuing a Geography major with a GIS emphasis have access to courses that will help them become technologically proficient in GIS programming, project management, spatial data integration and management, and the production of spatial data visualizations for print, multimedia and mobile environments.<br><br>LEARNING OUTCOMES<br>Demonstrate knowledge of core principles of physical geography in climatology, biogeography, landscapes, and/or water resources<br>Exhibit ability to develop research questions, critically understand data sources & bias, integrate scholarly literature, & conduct research using primary and/or secondary source material<br>Demonstrate ability to create, refine, and interpret graphical data to compare/contrast spatial patterns & structures<br>Recognize the key factors influencing global and regional climate in the past, present, and future<br>Identify and utilize appropriate geography methods to provide a systematic framework for examining environmental and social problems and apprehend their roles, individual and collective<br>Demonstrate ability to engage in independent high-order critical thinking and synthesize, process, & present geographic concepts, methodologies, & applications in oral, written, & visual forms
