Request that your official transcripts be sent to SDSU,
Apply for your Certificate of Clearance. More directions on this process can be found on the School of Teacher Education's Certificate of Clearance webpage. Follow the directions for applying to the Certificate of Clearance. (The Emergency Teaching Permit does not apply to this program.)
Contact 3 individuals who you have interacted with both personally and professionally who would be able to write a letter of recommendation for you. If you are a re-applicant, you will also need one new letter of recommendation. You may use two of the same letters of recommendation that you submitted with your application last year. Please request that they write their letter and have it ready for when the system is available since they will be needed quickly. Recommenders will submit their letters directly into the Online Program Application.
Advancement to Candidacy
have earned an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or one approved by a Ministry of Education or
will have earned an acceptable baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or one approved by a Ministry of Education, the term immediately prior to enrollment.
Applicants who have earned a three-year baccalaureate degree from an international institution, may be considered for admission. Applicants with a three-year baccalaureate degree in progress at the time of application are not eligible for graduate consideration.
A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or about 80%) or higher is required to be considered for admission.

The mission of the SDSU School Counseling program is to prepare school counselors to become leaders, advocates, and systems change agents in our diverse schools. As an integral part of the total educational program for student success, school counselors learn to design, develop, implement and evaluate their comprehensive school counseling program to ensure that every student receives developmentally appropriate competencies in academic, career and personal/social development.<br><br>School counselors become professional student advocates who promote equity and access to a rigorous education for every student and who work to prevent and remove barriers to learning. Our graduates develop themselves as culturally sustaining leaders in educational transformation and social justice in the schools and communities they serve.
