Our graduates develop holistic and developmentally informed understandings of the people they serve and empower them in ways that instill hope, embrace diversity, and create optimal wellness.The Department of Counseling delivers educational content primarily in-person. Occasionally courses are offered in a blended or completely online format. Because our courses are predominantly application-oriented, given the clinical nature of the degrees, we believe face-to-face delivery is the best way to train, supervise, and fulfill our gatekeeping roles.The doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision is intended for M.A. or Ed.S. level professionals who wish to teach and/or supervise in higher education or in school and community settings. Applicants usually have recent clinical experience and are licensed or license-eligible. However, it is possible to pursue the doctoral degree with backgrounds and/or advanced degrees in related academic areas.Formal programs of study for the doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision are designed in cooperation with assigned advisor. Depending on the student's academic background, some of the requirements below may have been completed in previous degree work.
