Preferred undergraduate degrees are in Psychology (major or minor), Sociology, or Family Life Sciences. Non-Psychology majors can anticipate leveling work. An evaluation of the applicant's transcripts will be completed by the Graduate Program Coordinator, and any leveling work will be noted in the conditional acceptance letter. Applicants should have completed course work in the following areas of psychology with a grade of C or better: introductory psychology, statistics, learning, experimental psychology, and one or more courses in the clinical area of psychology (e.g., clinical, abnormal, personality)
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. The McAda Graduate School must receive an official transcript, including one on which a bachelor's degree is posted, directly from each institution the applicant has attended. International graduate student applicants must submit a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA that includes verified transcripts. MSU strongly prefers the WES ICAP evaluation, but will accept a comparable evaluation from a NACES member.
A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 from the student's graduating institution. Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores. Applicants must submit a score of at least 79 on the Internet-based examination to meet the university requirement for unconditional admission. IELTS Test score of 6.0 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement. ITEP Test score of 4.0 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement.

The MA program in Clinical/Counseling Psychology is an exciting and dynamic program designed to prepare students for employment as masters level clinicians. Our graduates are eligible to sit for licensure as either professional counselors, psychological associates, or both. <br>As a program, we are committed to providing the highest quality clinical training in the areas of: psychological theory, assessment, and intervention. Students can expect to become knowledgeable in a variety of theories of personality, principles of assessment, and methods of therapy. Although our primary mission is to train masters level clinician, the research and training experiences provided by a productive and knowledgeable faculty prepare students aspiring to doctoral studies. Our graduates have gone on to study at a variety of well-respected universities (e.g., University of Oklahoma, Bowling Green State University, Texas Women's University, University of North Texas).
