The applicant will submit Graduate Record Examination scores. Preferred scores are 153 Verbal and 147 Quantitative (total 300) or using the older GRE scale, 500 Verbal and 500 Quantitative (total 1000). The Counseling Psychology Doctoral program also recommends a score of 4.0 on Analytical Writing. The applicant will present official transcripts as evidence of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale for both graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology. A student entering the program with a bachelor’s degree is required to have a minimum overall GPA of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester credit hours of undergraduate work. A student entering the program with a master’s degree is required to have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for graduate work in psychology. The applicant will submit three letters of recommendation. The applicant will present evidence of at least 18 semester credit hours in undergraduate psychology courses including the following courses: introductory psychology, life-span developmental psychology, statistics, experimental psychology, psychology of learning, and 3 elective semester credit hours in psychology. A course in biological bases of behavior is required instead of an elective for School Psychology doctoral applicants. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (iBT), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5 or higher.
